Robert "Bob" Lawrence Logsdon




Robert "Bob" Lawrence Logsdon, 88, of  Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, July 3, 2020, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Tuesday, January 5, 1932 in Hyndman, PA, he was the son of the late Jesse Logsdon and the late Mary Burkey Logsdon.

He and Alma, his former wife, were the owners of the Snow White Grill and Logsdon Body Shop. He was a member of the AMVETS and past member of the board of the local Marine Corps League. Working with his sons Mark and David, he was an innovative race car builder, engineer, fabricator, and car owner who contributed to the success of several race teams that campaigned at dirt tracks in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia in the 1960s and 70s. He also enjoyed working with his son Mark restoring antique automobiles  and racing quarter midgets. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time with his eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and his dog Bella.

He is survived by his former wife, Alma Bowers, the mother of his children; three daughters, Joanne Ballengee and husband John, Sharon Grant and husband Adam and Jane Neff and husband Dan; two sons, David Logsdon and wife Risë, Mark Logsdon and wife Kelly; brother, Sonny Logsdon.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents;and siblings Stephen Logsdon, Mary Louise Mattingly, William Logsdon, Helen Briner, Jerome Logsdon and Joanne Logsdon (Infant).

Services will be held privately with the family.

Private interment will be at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1976 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania 17201.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and doctors at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, Heartland Hospice and to Dr. Anthony Johnson his cardiologist for their dedication, care and love shown to our father.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
