Richard  Eugene "Dick" Shoemaker, 73, of  Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, August 21, 2020, at the Meritus Medical Center.

Born Wednesday, September 11, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of  the late Emma Elizabeth (Kelly) Conrad.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 28 years. Dick was employed with Food Lion Distribution Center in Greencastle, PA for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Clopper Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro, Red Men Tribe 84 in Williamsport, Md, AMVETS and the Moose Lodge in Chambersburg, PA.

He is survived by his wife of  54 years Patricia Jane Shoemaker; five sons, Ricky Renee Shoemaker, II of Hagerstown, MD, Steven W. Shoemaker and wife Laurel of Greencastle, PA, Donald L. Shoemaker and wife Sonya of Clear Spring, MD, Ronald L. Shoemaker and wife Kris of Hagerstown, MD and Brent E. Baker and wife Georgia of Williamsport, MD; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, seventeen.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina E. VanWinkle.

Services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with  Pastor Ken Harris officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.

Such a great picture of Dick thats how I remember him, I have known Dick all my life, he was a good friend of our family, I went to school with his kids and nieces on the Barton side, there are so many good memories of Dick. He used drive for a company called JD SKY he was haul alot stuff for this paper company. Dick lefted my dad & our family use his van to drive Flordia for my sister to get married. When Dick would see me he would say hey Baby hows your mom & dad doing. So many great memories. Fly High
