Obituary

Ralph Christian Hoover, Sr. 95, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the Martinsburg Veteran Affairs Hospital.

Born Friday, October 24, 1924 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Edgar R. Hoover and the late Marjorie Irene (Schriener) Hoover. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Ruth Hoover.

Ralph attended Hagerstown High School. After high school Ralph was inducted in to the U.S. Army where he served for 23 years, he spent four years on the battlefields of the South Pacific and Korea, then continued service Stateside and in Europe. He was awarded numerous military medals and decorations including two Purple Hearts. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Ralph served as the Executive Director of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. retiring after 16 years. Ralph was a member of the Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Purple Heart Assn., the Wounded Warriors Assn. and the Korean War Veterans Assn Post 312.

He is survived by four sons, Gregory Allan (Barbara) Hoover of Hagerstown, MD, Daniel Mark (Tammy) Hoover of Williamsport, MD, Donald Clark Hoover of Hagerstown, MD, David Keith Hoover of Pensacola, FL; one daughter, Dawn Beckley of Hagerstown, MD; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, Ralph C. Hoover Jr.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD, with Chaplain Eric Verhulst officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the, Washington County SPCA 13011 Maugansville Rd, Hagerstown, MD, 21740.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
