Perry Franklin Reese, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Thursday, December 21, 1933 in Benevola, MD. He was the son of the late Harry Charles Reese and the late Lena Elise (Baker) Reese.
Perry was a graduate from Hagerstown High School, class of 1952.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and later worked for Potomac Edison for 33 years where he then retired as the maintenance supervisor for all the minor power stations.
Perry was a lifetime member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of the Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378, the American Legion Post 8, and the Korean War Veterans.
Perry and his wife enjoyed living in Florida during the winter months after retirement. He built his home himself in 1971 and enjoyed building many pieces of furniture as well. Perry’s many interests included hunting, gardening, playing his guitar, singing, golfing, hiking, biking, going on long walks and traveling. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed attending all of the Hagerstown Suns baseball games and was a dedicated Washington Nationals fan.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Reese; two Daughters, Tamara Derr of Hagerstown, MD, Teresa Jensen and husband Duane of Charles Town, WV; grandson, Joshua Konecki of Hagerstown, MD; granddaughter Elizabeth Roane and partner Ryan Akers of Williamsport, MD; a sister Betty Jane Hutzel of Hagerstown, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Reese; and two sisters, Doris Moore and Patricia “Patsy” Chaney.
He leaves behind many loving and very special memories with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, 15 South Mulberry Street. Pastor Twyla Rowe and Pastor Duane Jensen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Perry’s name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home.
