Obituary

Mary Gwennella Ardinger Kalbflesh, 81, of Chewsville, MD passed away peacefully at the Williamsport Retirement Village on January 20*, 2023.

Born October 1, 1941 in Newtown Square, PA she was the daughter of the late James Edward Beuford Ardinger and Mary Gwennella Glass (Morningstar) Ardinger.

Gwen was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and later attended travel agent school.

Gwen was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Chewsville, where she previously led the nursery school program and taught Bible school.

She was employed by the family business of Ardinger's House Of Music, People's Drug Store, and The Bon Ton. Her hobbies included embroidery, sewing and coloring. She enjoyed getting ice cream at Dairy Queen and going for rides with her daughter in law and caregiver Lisa Kalbflesh. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Gwen is survived by her husband John Frederick Kalbflesh who she married in 1962, the service was performed by Pastor J. Wade Huffman in Clear Spring, MD. They were married for 60 years. She is also survived by her two sons, Jim Kalbflesh and wife Tammy of Sheperdstown, WV, and Tim Kalbflesh and wife Lisa of Clear Spring, MD. Four grandchildren, James Kalbflesh of Chewsville, MD, Karissa Cochran of Sharpsburg, MD, Sara Kalbflesh, and Kaleb Kalbflesh both of Clear Spring, MD.
She is also survived by a brother, Ben Ardinger of Kodiak, Alaska and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by a son, Robert Eugene Kalbflesh, and a brother James Eugene Ardinger.

Services will be held on Thursday, January  26, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD with the Rev John Schildt and the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home

Interment will be a the Beaver Creek Cemetery

I worked with Gwen at the BonTon many years ago. She was a lovely person. I remember how she loved to decorate her home for the Christmas holidays, every room and nook and cranny, just beautiful !!! Please take comfort from the many memories.
