Marie D. Strasburg
Marie D. Strasburg, 91, of Williamsport, MD went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2021, surrounded by her five children.
Born in Melrose, Wis. Dec. 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Elmer and Gena (Hendrickson) Severson and was preceded in death by her 11 siblings (George Severson, Tilda Bullock, Ellsworth Severson, Geneva Severson, Spencer Severson, Larry Severson, Chester Severson, Gladys Semingson, Ruth Twieg, Helen Hoile, and Harold Severson). Her husband and high school sweet heart of 47 years Eugene preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her children Trent (Dottie) New Orleans, LA, Kevin (Anne) Wilmington, NC, Alan (Julie Barr) Hagerstown, MD, Janet, Reedsville, PA, and Susan, Elkridge, MD. She has 8 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren having been close to all over the years; the latest being a trip to New Orleans. She never missed sending cards, helping with their educations, and encouraging them along the way.
Marie was first and foremost a homemaker who worked various jobs while taking care of her family. She taught H&R Block tax classes and prepared many for people privately using a computer program Eugene created. She volunteered her time for many causes including at Winchester Hospital, C-CAP and Homewood where she resided the past six years. Reading, gardening, quilting, and socializing are a few of the many activities that gave Marie a full and active life. She did extensive genealogy research and recently was updating her records. Zoom meetings with the family every week included reminiscing about family and friends. Her final words to all were, “Be kind and love the Lord.”
There will be a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Marie’s favorite charities; Brooke’s House, 17663 Technology Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Maryland Food Bank, P.O. Box 17379, Baltimore, MD 21297-1379.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
Online condolences may be made to the family at www.douglasfiery.com

Julie, I am very sorry for your loss, I know you were close to your mother. I wanted to send a card, but I could not find your address anywhere. Hope you are doing well otherwise. Give me a call when things settle down and we can dine somewhere. Bob, 717-977-1040
A good friend for the time we spent together at Homewood. Quilting was one of our pastimes. Marie will be sadly missed.
Susan, Dan and I send prayers to you and your family for the loss of your Mom. We know how hard it must have been to say goodbye. My heart breaks for you since I know how much you loved her and how difficult this must be. My love to you and your family. Jean and Dan

I volunteered with your mom and grandmother at CCAP. I just loved her from the first time I met her. She was a wonderful and dependable volunteer. She was so proud of her family, always showing me the latest photos of her grandchildren. She came to a Christmas party for CCAP shortly after moving to Hagerstown. So sorry for your loss. I know you will miss her. My love and prayers to the family.
