Obituary

Joseph Elton Martin, 72, of Hagerstown, MD, went home to his Lord, Monday, July 12, 2021 at his home.

Joseph was born on December 23, 1948, in Maugansville, MD, to the late Abel E. and Iva S. Martin. He was employed at Martin's Elevator, Inc.

Left to cherish his wonderful memory is his wife of 51 years, Eleanor R. Martin, whom he married on October 25, 1969, together with their 7 children: Melisa Hershberger (David) of Madras, OR; J. Eric Martin (Leanne) of Hagerstown, MD; Christopher J. Martin (Hannah) of Greencastle, PA; Esther Joy Gerber (Philip) of Milverton, ON, CAN; Stanley E. Martin (Pang Thao) of Brighton, CO, Derick E. Martin (Heidi) of New Oxford, PA; and Shon E. Martin (Kristy) of Hagerstown, MD; beloved grandchildren: Edward (Madie), Matthew, Cheyenne, Weston, Cole, Sawyer, Carson Hershberger; Justin, Stacy Martin; Megan, Emilee, Jacob, Braden Martin; Donovan, Ella, Olivia Martin; Alex, Quinton, Vanessa, Whitney, Troy, Bentley, Judson Martin; and Sashi Martin; brothers; Dr. Enos Martin (Ruth), Truman Martin (Cora) and sister: Dorcas Horst (Ralph). He as preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Iva, and brother-in-law, Ralph Horst. 

He was a member of Antrim Mennonite Church, Greencastle, PA.

Services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Rd. East, Chambersburg, PA 17202 at 10:00 am, with Antrim Mennonite ministry officiating.

The family will also receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, on Friday July 16, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be held at Antrim Mennonite Church Cemetery.
