Joan Emma Keener, 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at her home.

Born Friday, December 13, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Carl Lester Bostetter and the late Mildred Pauline (Coss) Bostetter.

She graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1965 and HJC in 1971 with a degree in nursing. She was employed with the South Mountain Restoration Center, retiring in 2000 after 19 years. Joan was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on the church council and the altar guild, was an usher and member of the WELCA. She was also a member of the Maugansville Historical Society and DAR and more than anything enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years0, Timothy B. Keener; daughter, Christine Joan McAfee & husband Gary of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Jane Alley and husband Terry of Sharpsburg, MD; granddaughters, Brooke Katelyn McAfee and Brielle Kristin McAfee; two nieces, Julie Steward and husband Justin and their children Alyssa and Jaxon, and Jodi Shelton and her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in 1976.

Services will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Hoda Zavandro officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac Street Hagerstown, MD 21740.
