A gentle and kind soul left our world. A bright light is forever gone from our lives. The light who we knew as Jaynese Louise Zeger Murfin, 57, passed away at Meritus Medical Center on Saturday, August 28, 2021 after a brief illness. Jaynese carried that light with her wherever she went. She never knew a stranger and brightened the lives of her family, co-workers and friends everyday. Jaynese always had a beautiful smile that was contagious and brought a smile to those persons who knew her.
Every once in awhile, if you are very lucky, someone like Jaynese comes into your life and enriches it. You are blessed with her friendship and her special ways make your days a little brighter. This was Jaynese, always. You are forever glad that you were a part of her world if only for a little while.
Jaynese was a devoted wife to Bruce. They were, truly, a blessing to one another. Through the years, they were always there for each other. They were deeply committed to their marriage and shared many wonderful years together. Sadly, their time together has come to an end on this earth, but the memories they made will never be forgotten.
Jaynese was also a devoted daughter to her father, Jay, and had a special bond with her late brother, Jay Milton (Jamie) Zeger Jr. In our hearts, we pray they were waiting to welcome her home and be reunited once again.
Jaynese was born on July 22, 1964 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Jay Milton and Barbara Ann McCleary Zeger. She was the granddaughter of the late Roy and Helen Zeger and the late Samuel and Isabel McCleary.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Murfin of 37 years. She is also survived by her uncles, Richard McCleary (Mary Pat), James Zeger (Jennifer), Richard Zeger (Shirley) and Jack Cushwa; aunts, Judy Harper, Sue Weir (Donnie), Darlene Semler (Joe), Mary Mullenix, Shirley Zeger, Norma Zeger and Bev Hoffman; sister-in-law, Brenda Murfin Garber (Jerry); brother-in-law, Brian Murfin; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially, Donald Dagenhart, Lissa Hubbard and Michelle Milligan Johnston. Jaynese is also survived by her Siamese fur babies, Lily and Orville, whom she deeply loved. They were much more than pets to her, they were family.
She was also preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.
Jaynese graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1982. She worked at Hagerstown Trust/Fulton Financial Bank for more than 30 years, where she always greeted people that came in the bank with her wonderful smile. She was voted top teller at Fulton Bank in the Hagerstown Magazine numerous times. She currently was employed with CNB bank. In her younger years, she was a member of several bowling leagues and enjoyed playing darts. Jaynese and Bruce loved to travel and visit various casinos.
A memorial service will be Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For your convenience the funeral home will be open during the day for persons to pay their respects.

Jaynese brought joy to everyone who knew her. She was a shining light in our neighborhood. She will be greatly missed.
We were both shocked, and saddened, to learn of the passing of Jaynese! She took care of us for many years at Fulton Bank on the Dual Highway! She was a bright shining light who would always greet us with a big perky smile! Barry would always tell her that her hair looked nice, and, she would always ask, “Where is your crazy husband?”, when I would pull up to the drive through without him! Our son, Shannon, was also very sad to hear about Jaynese as she took care of him as well, and, was even on one of his SWA flights! It is hard to imagine the world without her because she was one of the happiest people we have ever met! Our sincerest heartfelt sympathy goes out to her us a husband, Bruce, as well as her family, and, close friends! She will be truly missed!

As her customers at Fulton Bank and then CNB Bank, we always looked forward to seeing her. The only word that works is "fun"---the deep and wide kind that makes you want to be around her. She leaves a huge sad hole in our hearts, but a warm and special memory. Our condolences to her husband and her bank family. Rest in peace, Jaynese.
