Obituary

 James Barrie Gwin, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Meritus Medical Center.

Born Tuesday, October 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Howard Gwin and the late Catherine (Waple) Gwin.

James was a graduate of Reed Township High School, class of 1954.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He retired from Verizon and worked at it's many predecessor companies.

James loved to golf, was a huge car enthusiast, over the course of his life, he owned up to 57 cars, he loved to travel and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. 

He was the former President of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Verizon Pioneers, American Legion Post 42, and the Community Relations at Verizon.

He is survived by his loving wife, whom he married in 1979, Carol Gwin; son, Douglas Gwin of Fairfax, VA and wife Eileen; daughter, Kristi Clement of Mount Airy, MD and husband Paul; daughter, Laura Rosenblatt of Ocean Side, CA and husband Steve; seven grandchildren, Callan, Nathan, Abigail, Joshua, Grant, Anna Kate, and Ashley; two sisters, Nancy Marks and husband "Bob", and Betsy Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by, sister, Harriett and Susan; and brothers, Dick, Jack and Lee.

A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave. Hagerstown, MD.
