Sharon, Dennis, James, and Marianne — my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time. I have very fond memories of you all (especially Sharon since we are the same age) and both your parents from Shipp family reunions many years ago. I can remember my parents, John and Emily, looking forward to spending time, visiting with Herman and Mary at reunions each year. May they have a grand reunion in Heaven now.

Dear Family, I saw Bro. Herman’s obit. In Harrisonburg’s Daily News Record. I had no idea he was from this area. You have my deepest sympathy. I did not know Herman very well. However,I enjoyed the fellowship I had with him and Mary while I was Pastor at Longmeadow, 1985-1990. They were faithful servants on the Board of Deacons. Bro. Herman’s quiet ways and wise counsel were very important to the congregation’s mission and ministry. I hope you feel our Lord’s Presence and Peace during this time of your great loss. “ let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith”- Hebrews 12:1-2. Jim, So sorry for your loss. We are thinking of you and your family at this time. Our thoughts and prayers of comfort are with you all. Dennis and Sheree Rauth.

My parents, Emmert and Esther Bittinger, noticed Herman Shipp's obituary in our Harrisonburg, VA newspaper, and shared some of their memories of your family. Dad was pastor at Longmeadow Church of the Brethren back in the 1960's, and I, too, have memories of our years there, and spending time at the Shipp farm, specifically with Sharon. What a long and productive life, and dedication to the church your father had! Emmert and Esther are now in their mid-nineties, living in the Bridgewater Retirement Community.

Our hearts goes out to the family during this time. Family memories will be carry on forever, Uncle Jr. will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all. Love all. Mary Deavers, Alice Gibson and family.
Just wanted to say that Mr.Shipp was my best neighbor I ever had. Very kind and giving and a good Christmas man. I will miss him lots. Phyllis Rose
Our Christian sympathy goes out to the family at this time of Mr. Shipp's passing. Stephanie has many fond memories of staying with the family on the farm outside Hagerstown and we have a photograph of Mike sledding down that lane with our oldest son James- taken around 1985 after a Sunday lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Shipp were warm, friendly people who will be fondly missed and we look forward to seeing them again in heaven.
