Harold Edward Lafferty , 93, of 1301 Woodland Way, Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Meritus Medical Center.
Born Sunday, June 17, 1928 in Mayflower, AR, he was the son of the late Virgil Lindsey Lafferty and the late Anna Burnett Lafferty.
Harold (who often went by Ed) had a long career in pharmaceutical and industrial engineering sales management. In retirement, he took positions that interested him, as varied as working with the mentally handicapped for the Washington County (MD) Arc, in the electronics department of Sam’s Club, and for the US Census Bureau. In his 80’s he obtained his CDL license and drove reticulated tractor trailers across the United States. A prolific writer, he has written three books and an edition of his memoires.
His Christadelphian faith was the most important aspect of his life; he was a biblical scholar and lecturer, and taught classes at bible schools across the country. His passion was biblical prophecy, and he published a prophecy newsletter up until his untimely passing. As a tour facilitator and leader, he set up and led journeys to Israel and the Middle East over half a dozen times. He and Phyllis also traveled several times to Europe and Great Britain, and to all corners of North America.
Harold never met a stranger, he could and would speak to anyone he encountered, and had a great empathy for everyone. He was a loyal friend and would spend hours on the phone or in correspondence with people across the globe. He had great pride and love for his wife, two children and grandson. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ann Lafferty; daughter, Lindsey M. Lafferty of Hagerstown, MD; son, Joel Edward Lafferty and wife Colleen of Hagerstown, MD; grandson, Benjamin Edward Lafferty of Hagerstown, MD.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Services will be private.
Private interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Plant a Tree in Israel-jnf c/o Jewish National Fund National Office42 East 69th Street, New York, NY 10024.

Brother Harold was an amazing person. My deepest condolences to his family.
This gentleman came into my life when we both worked at the Census Bureau. A man with whom I could discuss Scriptures. He was wise and aware of the inherent message of the sacred word. While he had an untimely and sudden death, we have no reason to believe that his spirit is not within the realm of Our Saviour!. His life was full and seemingly rich with many excursions into the unknown while not afraid of being caught in his naive’! May the family find comfort in the hours that Mr. Lafferty spent spreading the word and His kindness.

One of the most amazing people we have ever met. His whole life revolved around our Heavenly Father's saving truths and he shared his studies and thoughts with all who would but listen. He was always approachable, kind and spiritually motivated. May his rest be brief as his brothers and sisters in Christ await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to at last bring about the glorious Kingdom Age!

Harold enriched the lives of so many, whether family, friend or acquaintance, and his extraordinary love for God and His Son was always evident in his life by words and deeds. He was one of God's blessings in our lives and his absence will be felt deeply by all. May our Heavenly Father comfort and sustain you Phyllis, Lindsey, Joel and Ben. Please let us know if we can be of help in any way as you may need. All our love, Wayne and Lynn

As the Editor of The Christadelphian I have had numerous exchanges with Bro Harold and always appreciated his thoughtful approach to scripture and prophecy in particular. Although we never met I found him to be a principled man who lived after the example of his saviour, and will be missed. By God's grace we will meet at the resurrection.
I never met bro. Harold in person, but corresponded via email many times during the week. I would send him my Daily World Watch bright and early every morning, and he would always send me back a reply. We both were deeply involved in Bible prophecy and what was daily happening in the Middle East regarding Israel and their enemy nations. We always compared notes. His vast knowledge of the Scriptures dwarfed mine....and he always came to my aid in time of need. He will be sorely missed, but soon we shall meet again in God's Kingdom when it is established here on Earth. May God bless and keep his family.

My family and I fondly remember Brother Harold. His zeal for God and the Bible. His ardor for sharing his insights with all who would hear was inspiring. We particularly recall a visit he made to our home. Let’s just say, it was unforgettably funny, dramatic and deeply spiritual, in just his indomitable way. A gentle soul and a faithful and kind friend, a wise man whose bible scholarship was truly impressive in its depth and profound in its influence. You are already in God's Kingdom, awaiting the rest of us. God will hold you in his embrace, until we see you again.
My deepest sympathies for your loss and the loss of his continuing work on the Prophecy Letters for which he labored for 32 years. He will be missed. But many like myself have benefited from his enthusiasm, kind demeaner of unrelenting search for Truth.

Dear Phyllis and family, Our hearts go out to you at this time of sorrow. Sis. Lindsay and I are among the many, many in the Brotherhood that will miss Bro. Harold, his inspiration, love and sincere compassion for the Word of God and the Hope of Israel. He was both a mentor and a friend to us all. We are consoled by knowing he is resting now, awaiting the day he spoke so often of. We know he earnestly anticipated his Lord's return every year. May he be awakened in this New Year and hear those longed for words, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of the Lord"
We will miss Harold so much! Especially his emails on world issues and truth events! He was an exemplary brother in the Truth!

My memories of Harold go back to when I was a child in Richmond and he was a young man and student. He was so special and devoted his life to the teaching and love of the word of God and his plan for the earth. We have learned much from him. Brother Harold, your next waking moment/thought will be of Jerusalem where you longed to be and hearing the sound of the shofar. This is our shared hope. Sending much love to Phyllis, Lindsey and Joel and family and prayers for your comfort. Bill and Donna McDonald

Harold was a special man and brother that loved God and His word. He tried to live it to the best of his ability. We loved your classes, articles, and emails. Rest in that peaceful sleep dear brother until you hear the call from our Lord when He returns to this earth to resurrect His chosen dead to reign with Him in the Kingdom of God. May God be with your family at this time.

Bro. Harold led a wonderful trip to Israel a couple of years ago. He was an inspiration in my teenage years. I enjoyed answering questions from the daily reading which he sent out each month.
