Elizabeth Ann Ruos  of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 13, 2023 at the age of 80.  The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Elizabeth was preceeded in death by the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Edmund A. Ruos. She was also preceeded in death by her Father William, Mother Ann and Sister Constance. Elizabeth is survived by her children Julie Ruos and Douglas Ruos of Hagerstown.  She will forever be remembered and cherished by her four grandchildren Justin , Abigail, Clayton Jr. and Grace; and two great grandchildren, Clara and Emory.

Elizabeth (Beti) Ruos lived a full life as a mother, wife and teacher.  Elizabeth chose to become a teacher because of her love for teaching ,but also to be able to be on the same schedule as her children. She taught for many years for Washington County Public Schools until her retirement. She also helped organize and taught bible school when her children were younger. The annual Bible School pool parties she hosted were something everyone looked forward to as a great way to conclude the week of fellowship. Elizabeth was active in several women's groups in Hagerstown- AAUW, the Jr. Women's Club and the Red Hats. She enjoyed the fellowship among the members of these groups. As an avid reader, Elizabeth was a member of a local book club. She enjoyed reading, preparing discussions and hosting the club at her house.  She also volunteered her time to helping set up and prepare for the AAUW's annual Book Sale. Later on, when her husband Edmund, became an active volunteer for the local Habitat for Humanity, she too volunteered her time at the local ReStore which supports the efforts of Habitat for Humanity.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her husband Edmund. They were always together. They enjoyed both big moments and small moments together such as traveling, going out to dinner, hosting epic neighborhood pool parties, having friends over, celebrating special occasions with their family and even just doing crossword puzzles together. They made the perfect couple.  Mom liked the long soft french fries and dad loved the pointy hard ones so they shared- perfect, none went to waste!

Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always so proud of their accomplishments and loved bragging about them to anyone who would listen. She instilled a strong sense of values in her children which has served them well throughout life. Her quick wit, sense of humor, generosity and unconditional love for her children will be dearly missed.  Elizabeth Ann Ruos- mother, wife and teacher will forever be in our hearts.

A special joint service will be held to honor both Elizabeth Ruos and Edmund Ruos. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at 11:00 am to 12 noon at 1331 Eastern Blvd N. Hagerstown, MD 21742 Douglas Fiery's Funeral Home with a graveside service to immediately follow at Rest Haven Cemetery 1601 Pennsylvania Ave Hagerstown, MD 21742.
