Charles Waldo "Roscoe" Ridenour, Sr., 78, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Cadia Healthcare of Hagerstown.
Born Tuesday, September 9, 1941 in Mt. Lena, MD, he was the son of the late Waldo D. Ridenour and the late Dorothy E. (Schroyer) Ridenour.
Roscoe attended Boonsboro High School. He later went to work with Creasey Company, Colombo Yogurt and later retired after 25 years from Rust-Oleum.
Roscoe umpired Little League and softball games for many years in the area. He also was a Park Guard at Hellane Park and volunteered at Mertius Medical Center.
Roscoe attended Tri-State Fellowship Church, was a lifetime member of the Williamsport Red Man Lodge 84, and was apart of the Western Maryland Enterprise Fire Company.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy K. (Lewis) Ridenour; daughter, Tonja Haupt and husband Greg; son, Charles W. "Chuck" Ridenour Jr. and wife Vivian; grandson, Gerad Haupt; granddaughter, Tracee Haupt; two great-granddaughters, Jocelyn Haupt and Lynnae Haupt, and their mother Diane Haupt; four brothers, David Ridenour and wife, Faye of Louisville, KY, Robert Ridenour and wife, Carol of Smithsburg, MD, Paul Ridenour and wife Bonnie of NC, James Ridenour and wife Sharon of Mt. Lena, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Ridenour, and sisters, Patty Hollingshead, Mary Etta Jenkins, and Helen Ward.
Services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Pastor Randy Buchman officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, July 16, 2020, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
Face coverings will be required for the visitation and funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Meals On Wheels Program to 535 E. Franklin St. Hagerstown, MD 21740. Checks made payable to Washington County Commission on Aging and on the memo/note line state Meals On Wheels.

Nancy and family. We were so sorry to hear of Charles' passing. I know these are difficult times but hang on to your good memories. He is in Heaven flying with the Angels.

How do you say goodbye to a friend and co-worker who always would greet you with the best Hello? It's not easy, but with all the good memories I have of Roscoe it does make it a little easier. Nancy, Tonja and Chuck; I am so sorry to read that Roscoe has passed. I have such fond memories of him from all the time I spent with Rosemarie’s family and all the times I visited at John and Treva’s. He always had a smile and a hug every time I saw him. RIP Roscoe, you will be missed.
