Barbara Ellen Beard
Barbara Ellen Beard, 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Sunday, June 28, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born Saturday, February 17, 1934 in Sleepy Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Benton Ruppenthal and the late Goldie Lillian (McBee) Ruppenthal.
Barbara graduated from Hedgesville High School in 1952. She was employed at Fairchild Industries, The Herald Mail, Sears, Jack Welch, CPA and retired from Washington County Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and was talented at crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Conrad Edward Beard; daughter, Karen Lynn Poffenberger (Tony) of Jefferson, MD; son, Conrad Edward Beard II (Regina) of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Lynda Risinger (Mike) of Winchester, VA; brother, Clarence B. Ruppenthal, Jr. (Donna) of Hedgesville, WV; grandchildren, Angela Kollmar (Chris), Eric Poffenberger (Andrea), Raena Frey (Kevin), Thomas Hammer (Noell) and Isaac Hartman (Mariah) and great-grandchildren, Donovan, Alec and Liliana Kollmar, Jaden and Addison Minnix, Ridley and Reese Hartman.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Robin Lee Beard and Margaret Ann Hartman; sister, Beverly Diane Hetzel.
Graveside services will be held privately at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O Box 747, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
