Albert Frank Brown, Jr., 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Monday, October 19, 2020, at his home.
Born Saturday, October 25, 1930 in Security, MD, he was the son of the late Albert Frank Brown, Sr. and the late Helen Marie Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Barbara A. Brown in 2010.
Al graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1951 to 1955 and continued in the reserves for four more years. He was employed with Lonestar (Marquette)Cement Company, retiring after 24 years. Albert was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, U.A.W. Local 33, where he served as a committeemen. He was a life member of the North American Rod & Gun Club, where he served as former President. Life member of the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club and the Boonsboro American Legion Post 10. Williamsport Redmen Tribe 84 and the NRA. Albert was the former President Washington County Federation of Sportsmen Assn.Al enjoyed all sports, he coached his sons in local baseball leagues and faithfully attended his grandsons sporting events. Albert was an avid, hunter, fisherman and gardener, he also enjoyed playing bingo with his special friend Betty Zeigler.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura L. Bendell & husband Alfred S. "Whooper" IV of Greencastle, PA, son, Curtis A. Brown & wife Cheryl of Hagerstown, MD; four grandchildren, Shannon Rudisill of Hagerstown, MD, Heather Cole of WV, Sloane Bendell of Williamsport, MD, Clayton Bendell of Greencastle, PA; Great-Grandchildren, Sophie Rudisill and Corbett Golden; brother, Roy Brown of Hagerstown, MD.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Bradley S. Brown; daughter Nelana Brown Tregoning; brother Carl Brown and a sister Helen DiFabbio and four nephews.
Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Joseph T. Langan officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 189, Clear Spring, MD 21722 for the benefit of a new handicap ramp.
