Vanetta Maude Thurber, 95, of  Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home.

Born Wednesday, August 1, 1923 in Three Springs, PA she was the daughter of the late Arthur N. Kerling and the late Maude Grace (Curfman) Kerling. She was preceded in death by her husband  Everest J. Thurber.

She was a graduate of  Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, MA.She was employed as the pianist and organist for Calvary Temple in Williamsport, MD, where she was also a member

She is survived by her daughter, Darylene A. (Robert) Mowen of Hagerstown, MD; son, Jay E. (Pam) Thurber also of Hagerstown, MD; seven grandsons, Tony Thurber, Samuel Thurber, Stephen Thurber, Christopher Ford, Curtis Ecker, Terry Thurber and Scott Thurber; two granddaughters, Vanetta Quintana and Angela Thurber and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel M. Thurber, brother, Wesley Paul Kerling, sisters, Floretta, Hulda May and Matilda Marie.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 5:00 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Pastor Robert V. Robinson officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Private interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
