Phyllis Sybil Crook




Phyllis Sybil Crook, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, April 25, 2020, at the Brookdale Senior Living.

Born Monday, March 27, 1939 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Wagner and the late Ida Wagner Calstein.

Phyllis was employed with Herald Mail after retiring from the State of Maryland. She was a volunteer with Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary and Hagerstown Community College. Phyllis enjoyed jazz music, watching westerns and was an avid reader and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Griffith Nally and husband Donnie of Hagerstown, MD; cousin, Stan Sachs  and wife, Gina; niece, Marcee Wagner-Uddeme; three great-nephews, Michael Wagner (Tee), Kirk Wagner (Allyssa and daughter, Aubrey) and Keith Wagner.

She was preceded in death by Lynn Hamilton Griffith, father of Dawn; her husband, James A. Crook; brother, Marvin W. Wagner; and nephew, Kirk Wagner.

In honoring Phyllis' wishes, there will be no viewing or service. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CASA, Inc., 116 W Baltimore St, Hagerstown, MD 21740 and Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.

Phyllis was one of the most good hearted and compassionate women I have ever known She was to me my best and most treasured friends She always would tell me that a strong women survives never gives up and is self- sufficient . She would often talk about ones worth and how respect is earned Her strength was a blessing to her and to those she loved We would laugh and cry together share our worries and personal struggles We both enjoyed going out to lunch together at one of her favorite places The Shamrock and she so enjoyed our mystery trips I miss her so very much and I am so blessed that she was my friend

Dawn, I am so sorry for your loss. Remembering the days of long ago when we were all locked together in the gates of hell (lol).
