Miriam Louise Henry, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 1, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Tuesday, November 17, 1931 in Hagerstown, MD. She was the daughter of the late Orville R. Bitner and the late Mabel R. (Kuhn) Bitner.
Miriam graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1949, attended Houghton College and received an Associates degree from Hagerstown Junior College. After college, Miriam married her sweetheart, Harold in 1951. In 1958 she joined Harold in the family business and served as the Vice President for Bitner-Henry Insurance Agency, retiring in 1997. She was a past member of Grace Brethren Church and a current member of Paramount Baptist Church. She and Harold were life members of the Antique Automobile Club of America and enjoyed traveling around the country for antique car meets. For many years they wintered in Ja-Mar Travel Park in Port Richey, FL, where she served as Board Secretary.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harold E. Henry; son, Stephen H. Henry and wife, Carol of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Lois V. Tamkin of Dillsburg, PA; brother, Robert O. Bitner of Mechanicsburg, PA; three grandsons, Daryl S. Henry and wife Judy, Andrew D. Henry and Joel B. Henry all of Frederick, MD; and great-grandson, Benjamin L. Henry.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 10:30 am, at Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Josh Fields officiating.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, Tuesday, December 3, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
