Matthew "Matt" Slagen Kaylor, 59 of Clear Spring, MD, passed peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Doey's House.
Born May 17, 1960, he was the son of Howard and Anne Kaylor.
Matthew graduated from North Hagerstown High School's Career Studies Center in 1978 with a certificate in Auto Mechanics. Matt joined the United States Air Force in 1980 serving four years as an Airframe Repair Specialist. While in the Air Force, he received a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding efforts and achievements while on temporary duty with the Repair Cycle Monitor Function. Matt was a talented mechanic and enjoyed working in his fully equipped machine shop. He custom designed, restored and built cars and scooters that won local awards including the Thunder in the Square Best Import (2013), Perfection Drives Classic Custom Care (2016), PBMC Best Import (2016) and the McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association Top Vehicle.
Matt also enjoyed playing the guitar and attending car shows and competitions.
Matt leaves behind his daughter, Samantha Nichole Kaylor of Parrish,Florida; his parents Howard and Anne Kaylor of Hagerstown, MD; and his two sisters Linda Kaylor Jackson and Elizabeth Kaylor, both of Baltimore, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends and relatives at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meritus Health Care Foundation, 11116 Medical Campus Road, Suite 3977, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
