Obituary

Mary Louise Skupien , 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Hagerstown Healthcare Center.

Born Saturday, August 27, 1932 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Otto Epple and the late K. Evelyn (Blackburn) Epple. She was preceded in death by her husband Roman P. Skupien.

She was employed at Avalon Manor and Garlock Nursing Homes as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the VFW Post 1936 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her two daughters, Theresa M. Litten & husband David of Hagerstown, MD and Laura A. Wilkens & husband John of Wayne, NJ; son, Jeffery M. Skupien & partner Cara Whittington of Hagerstown, MD; five grandchildren, Jason Litten, Allison Litten, Katherine Wilkens, John Ryan Wilkens, and Michael Skupien; three great grandchildren, Adam Cornell, Addisyn Litten and Madilyn Litten.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Rudolph and Peggy Skupien, brother, Richard Epple, great grandson, Easton Litten and companion, Francis Lee Hill.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 1:00 pm, at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street Hagerstown, MD, with Rev. Larry Adamczyk officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 West Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
