Obituary

Martha Jane "Marty"  Byers, 87, of  Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Sunday, March 17, 2019, at  Doey's House.

Born Sunday, January 31, 1932 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late George D. Watts Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth (Sprecher) Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul "Bud" Ray Byers, Jr.

She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1950. Marty was employed with Beneficial Finance Company retiring after many years of service. She was a life time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Marty enjoyed traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach. She especially cherished spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her; daughter, Pam Schultheis & husband Jim of Boonsboro, MD; son, Dave Byers & wife Mary of Boonsboro, MD; two grandsons, Brian Schultheis & wife April of Hagerstown, MD, Matthew Byers & wife Jess of Smithsburg, MD; three granddaughters, Kelly Schultheis of Hagerstown, MD, Caitie Schultheis of Frederick, MD and Kristen Byers of Boonsboro, MD; three great grandsons, Dalton Schultheis, Kyler Schultheis and Brody Byers; sister, Elsie Sweigert of Hagerstown, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher May, sisters, Elizabeth Watts, Lucille Miles and Louise Stotelmyer, brother, George D. Watts, Jr.

Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Randall S. Reid officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Martha to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
