Obituary

Margaret A. Linton, 99, formerly of Hagerstown, MD and Athens, GA went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2019.  She passed on peacefully surrounded by her daughters at home in Falling Waters, WV.

Born Saturday, July 10, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Jesse F. Clayburn and the late Myrtle E. Mongan.

She loved her Family and Friends dearly and some of her most precious memories were spent holding a hand and sharing a story and a cup of coffee.  She was encouraging and loving and always had a kind word to say.  Her sweet personality, quick wit and clear blue eyes made a lasting and special impression on all those she met and cared for.

She loved the Lord and raised her children to do the same.  Her legacy of Christian faith will bring many more to the Lord through the generations now and those to come.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Whitmore of Athens, GA and Nita McCormick of Falling Waters, WV; sisters, Mary Wade and Josephine Cooper; grandchildren, Marti Holnagel of Crestwood, KY, Margie Jarrendt of Clifton, VA, Sherie Nigh of Hagerstown, MD, Leslie Blair of Washington, DC, and Scott Penner of Hebron, MD; 13 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marvin E. Linton; son, Russell Penner; son-in-laws, Joe McCormick and Sam Whitmore; sisters, Helen Russell, Katherine Grover; grandson Chris Penner and granddaughter, Debbie Bugg.

Services will be held Friday, September 13, 2019, at 12:00 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Pastor Brad Nigh officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, https://www.hospiceotp.org/donate/ or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Margaret is a special and precious part of God who had a wonderful impact on our lives. She and Marvin always used only helpful words and good works to show God’s wonderful love to us. We will always have fond memories of them both.

We are so sorry to hear of Mrs. Linton's passing. She and Mr. Marvin were neighbors of ours. when we all lived at Shenandoah Condominiums. I would go up to visit them in their unit from time to time and we would have a wonderful time just talking. The Linton's were a beautiful couple. I know she will be missed. She lived 99 years on this earth and that is a blessing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It is a bitter sweet time. Dear Aunt Margaret enjoying her heavenly home while each one of us that has loved her dearly are holding on to those precious memories. You have been an amazing family through this journey of caring, loving & providing. Prayers as you mourn & face each day without her sweet presence. Love you all.
