Obituaries & Guest Book

George "Alex" Alexander Gordon

Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Washington County Regional (Black Rock) Park

George "Alex" Alexander Gordon, 27, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday May 1, 2019.

Born Friday May 31, 1991 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Timothy Gordon and Barbara Constable Rossini and Dr. Michael Rossini of Hagerstown.

In addition to his mother and step-father, he is also survived by his two brothers Zachary Constable and Richard "Worth" Gordon; his two step sisters Teresa Rossini and Alina Rossini; his grandmother Myra Constable; his aunts and uncles Vicki Gordon, Susie Downin, Nina and Tom Miller, Kendra and Donny Smith, Atlee Constable and Wesley and Chris Constable; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Linwood Constable and Judy & Richard Gordon; and uncle Michael Gordon.
A mother’s saddest day is losing their child.  Alex lost his fight to opioid addiction.  His strength to acknowledge that he had a problem and ask for help was not enough to save his life.  Opioids change a person’s brain and lead to a life long struggle to not give in.  This battle is isolating because of the self-induced shame and guilt.  If you know someone who is struggling, please do not judge.  Those struggling did not wish for nor anticipate it. It is a struggle that is extremely difficult to overcome.  I found a quote from Alex - "It’s not the future I am afraid of, it’s the fear of the past repeating itself that haunts me.”
Alex’s magnetic personality was hard not to love.  He was a loving and giving soul who was always happy to lend a hand to those in need.  Words from his friends describe him as loving, optimistic, generous, outgoing, courageous, a protector, he was everyones brother, he was like family.   He loved life, his family and friends and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 2:00 pm, at the Washington County Regional (Black Rock) Park, 20025 Mt Aetna Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Brooke's House, 17663 Technology Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, 21740.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. I knew Alex from coming into my work at AC&T on the Dual Hwy. He was a very polite young man as his two brothers. I hope his journey/legacy will open the eyes of other people with drug addiction. I just wish he could have gotten help sooner and with Alex coming out and asking for help shows he wanted help and was a good man. God Bless
