FRANCIS A. JONES, 77, of Atlanta, GA, died August 06, 2019, at his home
surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born March 9, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD to the late William W. Sr and Lucy
He was a 1960 Graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. He later moved to
Atlanta, GA, where he worked for Delta Airlines retiring after 36 years of service.
After retiring from Delta he worked for the Fulton County School System as a bus
driver for over 13 years.
He was an avid reader that loved mystery novels and loved talking politics with
anyone who would listen.
Francis is survived by his loving wife Nancy Smith-Jones, four daughters
Cassandra Taylor and Carmen Jones both of Hagerstown, MD and Tiffani Mintz-
Jones and A’Landra Jones both of Atlanta, GA, three sons Dion Jones (Latyce) of
Martinsburg, WV, Chase Jones of Atlanta, GA and Cameron Jones of Waldorf, MD,
stepchildren, Joshua Smith of Atlanta, GA and Dorothy Smith of Fremont, CA.
In addition he is survived by four sisters, Christella E. Keyes of Woodstock, MD,
Page L. Moten (Kenneth) of Windermere, FL, Gwendolyn K. Jones of Hagerstown,
MD, Deborah L. Washington (Charles), of Lakeland, FL, sister in-law Mary C. Jones
of Mullins, SC, fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William W. Jones Jr. and sister Patricia A.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at Douglas
A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd, Hagerstown, MD 21742 with the Rev.
Leroy Jackson officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the

I last visited Francis when we were in Atlanta several years ago. We called Francis & he came to meet us & took us back to meet his wife. It was great seeing Francis & catch up on old times. We ask peace & blessing to his family. May God continue to bless the family. Russell Hopewell
