Obituary

 Emmett "Butch" E. Magaha , 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Doey's House.

Born Friday, May 12, 1944 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late James Magaha and the late Rosie (Yonger) Spessard. Butch was raised by his late aunt, Anna Yonger.

He graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1963. He was employed with Danzer Metal Works from 1963 to 2006. He was also employed with Cumberland Valley Fabricators until his retirement. Butch was a life member of First Hagerstown Hose Company. He also enjoyed his life time membership at North American Rod and Gun Club. He was also member of the Izaak Walton League of America. Butch enjoyed coin collecting, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy (Gladhill) Magaha; daughter, Jessica Golden; and grandson, Mattingly Golden. Butch is also survived by his constant feline companion, Bella.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Carl Spessard and son-in-law, Adam Golden.

Services will be held Monday, July 1, 2019, at 7:30 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Ron Faith officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, July 1, 2019, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

Interment will be held privately at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Doey's House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD, 21742.

To the family of Emmett Magaha: I met Mr. Magaha through my place of employment. I always enjoyed seeing him when he came into the office. He was a very enjoyable, kind pleasant man, one of those people who you are fortunate to meet in your life that leaves a lasting impression. My sincere condolences to you.
