Charles Merle Patton, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Doey's House.
Born Sunday, July 7, 1929 in Crawfordsville, IN, he was the son of the late Merle Patton and the late Clarice E. (Strain) Patton.
He graduated for Crawfordsville High School and attended Purdue University, where he was a member of the wrestling team.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was employed with C&P Telephone retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church and the Bell Retirees Assn. Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Anne Patton; two sons, Daniel R. Patton & wife Deloris of Greencastle, PA and Andrew D. Patton & fiancé Sandra Shelton of Houston, TX; sister, Martha Allison of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Robert Patton & wife Amber of Hagerstown, MD and Jennifer Patton of Greencastle, PA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh David Patton.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 12:00 pm, at the Mt. Savage United Methodist Church Cemetery, 12619 New Row Road Mt. Savage, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh United Methodist Church 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Doey's House care of Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.

Charles M. Patton was a true hero of America's forgotten war- the Korean War. Though not a Chapter member, nevertheless we condole with you on your loss.
