Carol O’Brien Weddle Linthicum, 77, recently of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at her home at Brookdale Assisted Living.

Born Thursday, June 12, 1941 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late George W. O'Brien and the late Daisy Mae (Tubbs) O'Brien.

Carol was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Montgomery County. She was employed with the state of Maryland, at the Circuit Court in Montgomery County, retiring after more than 30 years. Carol lived in the Myersville, MD area for many years and moved to Florida after retirement. Carol enjoyed gardening, bingo, and looking after her two young granddaughters. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Carol returned to the Maryland area when her health deteriorated.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lori (David Beach) Linthicum of Myersville, MD and Carol Ann Weddle (David) Hess of Potomac Falls, VA; three sons, James R. Weddle of Martinsburg, WV, Robert Linthicum of Venice, FL and Fred (Rachel) Linthicum Jr. of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Barbara Sprouse and Shirley Hyatt both of Melbourne, FL; nine grandchildren, Sophie, Rachel, Jack, Jordan, Patrick, Jason, John Reed, Kaiya and Avery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Reed Weddle, second husband, Fred Linthicum and a sister, Gloria Hoffmaster.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Don Conley officiating.

Interment will be later in the summer at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
