George Richard Bargmann, 58, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Meritus Medical Center.

Born Wednesday, June 17, 1953 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Louis Herman Bargmann and the late Elizabeth Jane (Lee) Bargmann.

He was employed as a security guard with U.S. Security, where he worked at the Toys R Us in Frederick, MD. George was a history lover and enjoyed spending time learning all things about history.

He is survived by his son, Brian L. Bargmann of Chambersburg, PA, daughter, Louise M. Frey & husband David of Smithsburg, MD, sisters, Betty Lou Hickerson of Hedgesville, WV,and Margaret S. Fitzgerald of Jessup, MD, brother, Louis H. Bargmann Jr. of Damascus, MD, grandsons, Gibson Frey and Oliver Frey.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis M. Bargmann.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday, April 30, 2012, at 10:00 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 224 West Washington Street Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Collin Poston as celebrant

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association Maryland Area Office 800 Wyman Park Dr. Suite 110 Baltimore, MD 21211, or the American Heart Association Memorial Processing Center P.O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
