Harold Eugene Burger, 81, of 20218 Mt. Aetna Road, Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Meritus Medical Center.

Born Sunday, August 3, 1930 in State Line, PA, he was the son of the late Phares D. Burger and the late Grace Florence (Daley) Burger Shatzer.

He was the owner of Sunset Tavern Inc. and Burger Auto Sales for 40 years. He was a member of the Waynesboro Country Club, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378, Eagles Club, Inc.of Waynesboro and the Hagerstown YMCA.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jo Ann Burger, daughters, Deborah K. Files of Hagerstown, MD, Sheree R. Rauth of Hagerstown, MD, and Sheila J. Hoover of Greencastle, PA, sons, Larry E. Burger of Shady Grove, PA, Christopher W. Burger of Mercersburg, PA, and Harold R. "Bud" Burger of Greencastle, PA, step son, Steven L. Koogle of Frederick, MD, sister, Mary L. Kissler of Concord, NC, half sister, Suzie Trivitt of Chambersburg, PA, brother, Robert R. Burger of Clear Spring, MD, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Daniel Hammond.

Services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012, at 11:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd.North, Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Len Smith officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
