Mitchell Ronald Akers, 18, of 109 Rachel's Court, Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Washington Hospital Center.

Born Tuesday, March 8, 1994 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Richard Phillip Akers and Anne Ungvarsky Akers.

He was a senior at Smithsburg High School class of 2012, where he was a member of the Link Crew, SGA and Latin Club, and also truly loved being on the Football, Lacrosse, Track ,Wrestling and Bocce Teams. He also attended classes at Hagerstown Community College. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and worked part time for the Hagerstown Suns. Mitchell especially enjoyed family vacations and hanging with friends.

Besides his parents he is survived by his brothers, Alexander James Akers and Nicholas Lee "Nieko" Akers both of Smithsburg, MD, maternal grandparents, Peggy Ungvarsky & the late Jim Ungvarsky of Smithsburg, MD, paternal grandparents, Bob & Verlene Akers of Hagerstown, MD, aunt & uncle, Mary & Dave Byers of Boonsboro, MD, aunt & uncle, Michele & Jerry Mauck of Hagerstown, MD, aunt & uncle, Maureen & Allen Grove of Smithsburg, MD, uncle & aunt, Tony & Joy Akers of Williamsport, MD, uncle & aunt, Jeff & Dee Akers of Fort Ashby, WV, great uncle & aunt, Joe & Ruth Ungvarsky of Hagerstown, MD, uncle & aunt, Frank & Yoshi Park of Sharpsburg, MD, girlfriend, Brittany Denham of Smithsburg, MD, and sixteen cousins.

Services will be held Monday, April 16, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Avenue Hagerstown, MD 21742, with the Rev. Martin S. Nocchi officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Sunday April15, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Smithsburg Cemetery, Smithsburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Smithsburg High School Athletic Boosters C/O Teresa Bachtell, 66 North Main Street, Smithsburg, MD 21783 or Girls Inc. of Washington County 626 Washington Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
