Margaret Lavinia Lewis, 94, of 20009 Rosebank Way, and formerly of 1045 Jefferson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Meritus Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born Wednesday, December 5, 1917 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Lester Snyder and Bertha Grace (Shamberger) Snyder.

A graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1936, Margaret graduated from the Baltimore School of Cosmetology and became owner and operator of Margaret L. Lewis Beauty Salon on Canon Avenue, Hagerstown for many years. She was a life member of Otterbein United Methodist Church on Franklin Street in Hagerstown.Margaret loved sewing, traveling and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles Samuel Lewis and a daughter Linda Ann Lewis.

She is survived by her, daughter, Laura E. (Lewis) Shindle and husband Edward of Greencastle, PA, grandson, Jason E. Shindle and friend Jennifer Johnson of McConnellsburg, PA, granddaughter, Jana N. Egolf & husband Ralph III of Mercersburg, PA, great-grandsons, Blake N., Cole J.,and Sawyer E., sister, Judith L. Alloway & husband Earl of Greencastle, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd.North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Robison officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Monday, April 09, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
